World's largest airport now open in Beijing
Updated: Feb 20, 2020
Beijing’s new sleek modern US$11 billion airport is built for the future, with a terminal the size of nearly 100 soccer fields as well as customer service robots providing passengers with airport information and flight updates and cameras using facial recognition. Chinese media has nicknamed it "starfish" for its shape of five concourses connected to a main hall, promising transfers between security and the furthest gates at no more than an eight minute walk. The airport will be able to accommodate over 100 million passengers a year. China is set to overtake the US by 2022 as the world’s biggest air travel market.
