Paro, Bhutan

Enjoy a hike to one of Bhutan’s most revered monuments - the Taktshang Goemba, more commonly known as the “Tiger’s Nest”. The five-hour trek offers spectacular views of this sacred monastery perched on a cliff face almost 1,000m above the valley floor. The ancient path is marked by river powered prayer wheels. It was said to be where the legendary Indian saint, Guru Padma Sambhava, flew from Tibet on the back of a tiger to defeat five demons, who were opposing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan.
