Queenstown, the Jewel of New Zealand

Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and encircled by the majestic Southern Alps, Queenstown was born after the local people deemed its beauty fit for a queen. Known as the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown offers a variety of action-packed activities yet also presents a wonderful haven in which to relax. More than just breathtaking scenery and a diverse range of attractions, it is the people visitors find enchanting - Queenstown has frequently been voted the friendliest foreign city.

And with all of this splendor comes the opportunity for travelers to take part in some of the world’s most exciting activities, like the famous world famous Shotover Jet Boat Ride, a thrilling adventure that speeds through the Shotover Canyons at speeds over 50mph. On top of that, Queenstown is the city in which A.J Hackett invented bungy jumping, so many thrill-seekers come to the city in the hopes of taking a leap of faith off of a bridge (and others come simply to watch the jumpers prepare for their gravity defying jump).

Other highlights include the Skyline Gondola, which takes travelers to the top of Coronet Peak, as well as a boat ride along the brooding Milford Sound, where deep fjords and majestic peaks await.

Whether you come seeking adventure or you come to explore the shops and galleries of the city’s more cosmopolitan side, Queenstown has something for everyone.
