National Museum of Arts

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Also called Musee dex Beaux Arts, the museum was designed by French archeologist and painter, George Groslier, in Khmer style in 1920 to exhibit works scattered throughout the country. The museum contains a collection of Khmer art - notably sculptures - throughout the ages. Most of the exhibits date from the Angkor period but there are several examples from the pre-Angkor era (i.e. from the kingdoms of Funan, Chenla and Cham).
