Day or night Shinjuku is worthy of exploration.

Shinjuku

Tokyo, Japan

Shinjuku is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo featuring buzzing nightclubs, massive shopping and boasting one of the busiest subway stations in all of Japan. This fast paced area is full of activity day or night.

Shinjuku is also home to the Golden-Gai District, a maze-like collection of 6 streets where you will discover over 200 ramshackle bars and eateries set in stark contrast with the neon-drenched clubs found elsewhere in the city. This tiny drinking den has resisted change since World War II and enjoys a renowned heritage as one of the best hangout spots for artists, musicians and suit-clad businessmen.

If you need a tranquil break from the bustle of it all, a visit to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is the perfect reset. A small entrance fee (about $5 USD) keeps out the masses of the public parks and is worth a stop.

It's easy to get lost in all there is to offer, but this is Japan and there is always someone ready to point you in the right direction.

Don't forget to look up. Shinjuku is the home of Godzilla!
