Pura Besakih is a 1000 year old temple structure which complements the beauty of Bali and its thriving Hindu culture. Dated from the 14th century, the temple was built on a site where animist rites, ceremonies and feasts once took place. Set low on the slopes of Mt. Agung, long stone steps lead up through seven rising terraces to three main temples at its top, each offering homage to the principal Hindu gods of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.
