Jade Buddha Temple

Shanghai, China

It was named for the white jade Buddha’s taken from Burma (now Myanmar) to Shanghai by a monk in 1882. Monks still live, work and study here, and the temple is used for religions services.

Explore the labyrinthine alleyways and pathways spreading from Taikang Road containing an array of newly revitalized treasures; of note is the Tianzifang District, recently transformed from a collection of rustic homes and factories into a trendy art district whose lanes contain infinite novelties.
