What is the major religion in Vietnam?Officially Vietnam is an atheist country, but in spite of this the country has a number of major religions with many devout worshippers; the largest religions include the country’s various Folk Religions, Buddhism, Catholicism, and the unique Cao Dai Faith. Cao Dài (“High Palace”), is a syncretist modern Vietnamese religious movement first founded in 1926. According to the Caodaists, all religions share the same origin and recognize the same Supreme Being in some way. The purpose of Cao Dài as a whole is to unite all worshipers by demonstrating their fundamental sameness, while each practicer’s goal is to unite him or herself with the Supreme Being.
