China's Beijing

Forbidden City

A 32 hectare pied-a-terre to the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Forbidden City is one of the most breathtaking sites in all of China. Built by the Yongle emperor when he moved the capital to Beijing from Nanjing in 1421, the Forbidden City stood proudly near the site of the palace used by the Yuan dynasty emperors.

The landmark is a significant symbol of the emperor and his unapproachable nature, as well as superb example of Chinese imperial architecture.
