Upon the colorful streets of this capital of the Klungkung district, find a vibrant mosaic of market stalls, each selling their own variety of decorative delights; from delicately woven baskets to the brilliant bronze wares of the skilled metal smiths for which the city is known, there awaits a mass of treasures for the keen eye.
However, the gems you find on the streets of Semarapura prove only a prelude to the finest highlight of the city, the Kertagosa. The ancient courthouse of the historically important Klungkung Dynasty, the Kertagosa is the focal point of this artistically and culturally rich capital. Upon its ceilings find the now extremely fragile wayang paintings depicting the carriage of justice, while outside the building enjoy the beautiful gardens, where moats lead to the open sided floating pavilions and nearby palace.
