Australia's New South Wales
The Hunter Valley
While originally the home of coal mining and cow herds, the modern Hunter Valley conjures visions of a much more elegant pastime, wine. The largest grape growing area in the state, the Hunter Valley boasts more than 120 wineries, divided into seven subregions, each with their own unique character and style of winery.
Covering almost 25,100 sqkm (15,596 sq miles), this robust region formed by the meandering waterway to which it owes its name, the Hunter Valley offers more than enough to be explored, as well as plenty of sweet concoctions to be savored.
